Discover a delightful and flavorful twist on buns made from the quick sweet yeast dough.
These buns are aromatic, soft, and delicate. Feel free to replace poppy seeds with cocoa or cinnamon to suit your taste and let your creativity flourish.
Prepare the Quick Sweet Yeast Dough following the recipe.
Divide the dough into two parts. Use one part to make buns with raisins, cutting it into small pieces.
With the remaining part, form a larger ball to proceed.
Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, then roll it into a rectangle approximately 3-4 mm thick using a rolling pin.
Spread the dough with soft butter, oil, or jam.
Sprinkle the surface with sugar and poppy seeds.
Tightly roll up the dough sheet.
Now to make the "Flowers":
- Cut the roll into pieces 2.5-3 cm thick.
Place each small roll cut-side up and slightly open the layers of dough.
Use scissors to make 1 cm cuts in the layers, alternating between the top ones. Follow the picture carefully for guidance.
And here's what it looks like in the end.
Arrange the rolls onto a greased baking tray or one lined with baking paper, and brush them with beaten egg or tea for the vegan option.
To make "Bun Rolls":
- Slice the dough as shown in the picture.
Position each cut roll with the shorter side facing up and gently press the center using the back of a spoon or a knife.
Place the rolls on an oiled tray or one lined with baking paper, and lightly brush them with a glaze.
See the above vegan option if preferred.
Bake the buns at 180°C for about 30-40 minutes until they are golden brown. Be mindful because they can cook quickly without burning.

And here are the rolls, fresh from the oven.
