Because in a vegetarian or fasting diet the main problem is to find a good source of calcium and protein, you must be very careful to choose the foods you eat - be open to new information and test, try - you will surely be in the situation I completely changed my attitude towards tofu cheese.
It is a perfect food - it has few calories, maximum protein, calcium, selenium, etc. And very important is vegetable nature, so zero cholesterol.
Okay, and now the important part - how to make it tasty, because many who tasted tofu for the first time squinted their noses. Its main feature - it has no obvious taste and can be combined and worked with various flavors.
For this recipe choose Natural TOFU (not in brine, oil or other flavors), follow exactly the steps - for the one with spices you can improvise as you like, but for the first time try my version.
About the taste - it's delicious, very similar to the classic egg omelette - and as a first indicator, Sofia ate a bowl of omelette mixed with a little cottage cheese, and left no crumbs in it. And believe me she is quite capricious about food, the classic omelet is one of her favorite dishes - here with tofu she didn't notice the difference.
So, a must-try food for those who care about their health, eating style and of course for vegetarians or those who fast.
This is the tofu cheese I prefer to make the omelet from - it has a neutral taste that can be worked very well.
With a fork, grind the cheese a little.
Peel an onion, finely chop it and put it to harden with half a glass of water and 1 tablespoon of oil.
Leave until slightly softened - stir periodically.
After the onion is done, add the ground tofu, mix well.
Let it cook well for about 5-10 minutes until the liquid that has it evaporates. Know that it does not catch like a classic omelet, it will have the texture of a ragged omelet.
Then add the spices, season with salt and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
And the omelet is ready, it's just as good and cold and warm.
Optionally after the first try, you can vary and add other vegetables - mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, etc.
Good appetite!
