Very simple recipe but with a very good result. I used the dough from one site, the assembly method from another, both quite successful. You can use any favorite fish fillet, it is important to be boneless - you can use the store-bought puff pastry.
First prepare the dough for the pie. If you take puff pastry from the market, the following steps can be omitted.
In a bowl put 1 glass of water or warm milk, 1 egg, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon sugar.
Mix the above ingredients well, then add the crumbled yeast and mix again until dissolved.
Add the flour and mix well.
When you have gathered the dough a little, put the soft butter and knead well until it sticks to your hands. If necessary, sprinkle more flour.
When the dough is uniform and no longer sticks to your hands, put it in a clean bowl, cover with foil and leave in a warm place to grow well.
It should increase in volume about 2 times.
After it has risen, knead it a little more and in 10 minutes it is ready to be used in the pie.
The fish fillet is washed well and allowed to drain.
Cut the onion into medium pieces and brown in oil.
The dough is divided into 2 pieces, each of which is made into a pie.
Spread a round sheet 3-4 mm thick, from each piece of dough, put the fish fillet in the middle (salt and pepper a little).
Place fried onions or mayonnaise on top of the fish (if using).
The dough is cut into uniform strips and "braided" - each piece of dough is placed one after the other, as seen in the picture.
The pies thus formed are placed in the oven tray, greased with a little oil. Grease with egg yolk on top and put in the oven for about an hour, until golden brown.
When cooked, allow to cool slightly, then portion.
The pie is very good and hot and cold.
Good appetite!
