This broccoli and walnut pizza was a great discovery for us. My husband tried it at work one day and he called me right away (he's not in the habit of calling me during the day :) He was very excited about this pizza and how good it was and he saved a piece for me. From that, I was able to recreate the recipe, not sure if it was the correct one, but it definitely tasted better than the original one :) So, dear vegetarians and food lovers, here is another super tasty pizza recipe - with broccoli and walnuts, a real culinary feast!
We tried 3 versions - one with classic yellow cheese, one with feta cheese and one with brie cheese (that's how I made it). I'd vote for the one with brie cheese as the best combination, but all 3 of them are very good, so it's up to you.
The same with the crust, the first time I made the Classic pizza dough and later I discovered my magic no-yeast pizza dough, which we liked more.
Prepare the dough following one of these 2 recipes - the one with yeast or the quick, no-yeast dough recipe.
While the dough is resting, prepare the ingredients for the pizza:
- boil the broccoli for a short while in water. For us, broccoli is literally a 'family member'. Sofia is crazy about it, so I usually store plenty of, especially in the season.
Grease the pizza pans with a bit of oil and roll out the dough. You will find further directions on how to work the pizza dough in the 2 recipes I mentioned above.
Spread 2-3 spoons of sour cream over each pizza.
Sprinkle 1 tsp dried herbs (oregano, marjoram, basil and other combinations) on top of each pizza.
Arrange the pieces of brie cheese or the grated yellow cheese (using the big holes of the grater).
Place the broccoli florets among the pieces of cheese.
At the end, add the walnuts, I broke them into quarters.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven at 200 degrees C. Cook for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown on the edges.
Let rest in the pan 5-10 minutes before serving.
Then slice and taste, it's absolutely delicious.
Enjoy!
