It would be easier to call it "cinnamon pizza", a delicious sweet pizza recipe, inspired by an American website. The author mentions it's quite common in American pizza restaurants. I haven't seen it in Romania and I was excited at the idea of trying it. It's brilliant, one evening I made a salty pizza and this sweet pizza. The sweet one was very successful, kids and dad simply devoured it :)
It's quick, especially if you have the dough already made and I can assure you it will be much appreciated. It's flavourful - the scent of butter and cinnamon, it's crispy, yet fluffy, I'd say it's perfect!
Prepare the pizza crust, you'll find directions in the Classic Pizza Dough recipe.
You will also find there the ingredients for the crust, in this recipe I only included the ingredients for the cinnamon crumble. The ingredients are for 1-2 pizzas.
So, roll out dough and transfer to a baking pan, greased with some oil, let rest for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, we prepare the cinnamon crumble:
- tip the flour, sugar and cinnamon into a bowl;
- stir in butter and vanilla and mix with your hands until crumbles are formed.
Sprinkle the flavourful crumbles over the pizza crust.
Bake in the preheated oven at 200 degrees C for 20-25 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with 1-2 tbsp milk and vanilla.
You should have a sugar paste, dense, but runny at the same time.
Take a thick plastic bag and cover the glass with it.
Pour in the sugar glaze.
Gather all the glaze in one of the corners, we will decorate the pizza with it when it's done.
When you remove the pizza from the oven, cut the corner of the plastic bag and drizzle with glaze all over the pizza.
We do this right away, when pizza is hot.
Let chill for a bit and the glaze will turn into a crust.
Then slice and serve.
