Yesterday I told you about the Gyros spice mix and today I'm going to show you this oven baked Greek chicken recipe, marinated in yoghurt, lemon and garlic. It's a combination we all love, we serve it as such, with a salad, or we use it to make the super tasty Gyros, with tzatziki, Greek-style roasted potatoes, pita breads and vegetables on the side - the homemade version, a lot healthier and absolutely delicious.
You must use all the ingredients to see what a wonderful taste is has, the yogurt and garlic marinade is simply brilliant and the meat can also be grilled, instead of oven baked.
Wash and clean the chicken meat thoroughly and place in a deep bowl.
Add yogurt.
Crush the garlic using a press and add it in.
Squeeze the juice from half a lemon.
Season with spices, salt, olive oil and ground black pepper.
Toss chicken in marinade to fully coat.
Now marinate for a few hours or even overnight. I bake it immediately after, we are usually in a hurry :)
Arrange thighs on a baking sheet - I recommend a larger one, so that chicken won't be too crammed as it releases water and it will boil, rather than roast. On a larger baking sheet, however, there will be plenty of space and it will bake nicely.
Bake in the preheated oven to 200 degrees C for 40-45 minutes or until cooked through.
Serve with any side dish you want, a salad, or make a Greek Gyros with the suggestions I gave you in the introduction (and you can find the recipes on my website).
This chicken is very tasty and it's never enough each time I cook it.
Enjoy!
