Greek Gyros Spice Mix
We are entering Greek cuisine with this gyros spice mix, a combination of accesible, but very diverse spices which join together in a beautiful "dance". Tomorrow I will show you my Greek style chicken recipe in which I use this mix. We just can't get enough of it, it's so tasty and so simple.
If you ask me when to use this spice mix, the first answer is use it with meat (chicken, lamb, pork etc.) ... but don't hesitate to experiment with some vegetables or pita bread sprinkled with olive oil and this combination of spices.
Last summer I brought from Greece a small bag with this spice mix inside but, to be honest, my combination is way better than the one I bought. So I recommend making it at home and you will have a nice surprise. The ingredients are easy to get and there is no need for a grinder, just mix everything with a spoon.

Step by step
Step 1
Gather all the ingredients from the list on the table.
Notice how I store them, in airtight glass jars. When I have time, I label them with printed stickers, but when I don't, I just use a permanent marker to write on them :)
Step 2
The size of the teaspoon doesn't really matter, what matters though is measuring all the ingredients with the same teaspoon.
Step 3
Measure all the ingredients according to the recipe and place in a bowl.
I recommend sticking to this recipe first and later on you are free to adjust it to your taste - more flavourful or more spicy.
Step 4
Mix everything together with a spoon and it's ready!
Step 5
Store in an airtight container and use when needed - it goes wonderfully with any steak - chicken, pork or lamb.
The only spice which could prove harder to find would be the ground coriander, but I've seen it in many supermarket stores, so try not to avoid it.
Enjoy!
