Let me show you today the dressing recipe which we lately enjoy together with crispy chicken wings or oven baked chicken legs. This Thousand Island dressing is actually perfect for salads as well, but we like to combine it with meat - oven baked, grilled, fried etc. There are so many recipes on the internet, but I finally chose this one because it's simple and we like it so much. By the way, here is an interesting detail. My Sofia can't stand raw onions, but because she can't feel the onions in this dressing, she keeps asking for some more :)
I've come up with a low-carb version of this recipe (you'll find all the details below), I don't use sugar and instead of ketchup I use tomato paste and it's still very good.
Prepare the mayonnaise following any recipe you want, you can even combine it with some yogurt or cream for a fresher taste.
I usually make the quick mayonnaise or the keto mayonnaise recipe.
Tip into the mayonnaise bowl 1 tbsp tomato paste or 2 tbsp ketchup.
Pour in 2 tbsp simple vinegar or pickles juice.
Squeeze the juice from half a lemon.
Add 1 tsp paprika, sweet or hot.
At the end, finely chop the onion, add to the sauce.
Mix well and adjust with salt, even though the salt in the mayonnaise should be enough.
The sauce is good right away and it's even better if kept 1-2 hours in the fridge.
You can store it in the fridge even for 5 days.
Don't hesitate to try it, it is a simple, but tasty dressing and very impressive as well.
Enjoy!
