I remembered this pizza recipe, where the crust is made of minced meat, so I prepared it quickly and it turned out to be another delicious discovery. I've cooked it several times since and each and every time we enjoy meatza with great pleasure, especially the kids.
The meat is tender and flavoury and the vegetable and cheese toppings make the perfect combination - served together with salad, it was a real feast, even for me (I'm on a low-carb diet for a while now and I've been avoiding classic pizza). You can use any kind of minced meat you like: pork, chicken, turkey, mixture. As for the topping, I would suggest using only vegetables, yellow cheese and maybe some thin slices of bacon.
If you use the amounts below, you'll get a big pizza or two smaller ones, also depending on how thick the mince crust will be.
In a deep bowl, combine the mince with 2 eggs, the 2 tbsp of grated parmesan or yellow cheese, 1 tsp salt and a bit of ground pepper.
Using your hands, mix everything together to make it uniform.
Line a pizza tin with parchment paper (I used an oven pan).
Spread the mixture out on the paper and press with your fingers until you get a round and flat pizza base. It shouldn't be either too thick or too thin, around 4-5 mm will be just fine.
Put it in the pre-heated oven to 180-200 degrees C for 10-15 minutes.
You don't have to cook it completely, just until it changes its colour. The cheese will melt a bit and it might stain the paper, but that's ok.
Meanwhile, prepare the rest of the ingredients for the topping and don't forget to grate the cheese on the big holes side.
Take out the pizza base from the oven and top it with the tomato sauce. If you don't have tomato sauce, you can use any kind of ketchup or tomato paste dissolved in water and seasoned with spices and salt.
Spread the grated cheese on top.
Now you can add any topping you like - I used thin rings of onion, red and green pepper.
You can also have sliced tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon or salami.
Return the pizza to the heated oven to 200 degrees C for another 25 minutes, until the topping is lightly brown.
Let it sit in the pan for 5 minutes, then carefully slice and serve.
It's very tasty accompanied by any vegetable side dish, pickles or anything else you prefer.
Enjoy!
