Step by step
Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the following dry ingredients: 350 g of flour, 140 g of cornstarch, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 0.5 teaspoon of salt and 6 tablespoons of sugar.
Step 2
Then add 200 ml of water, 140 ml of oil and one tablespoon of vanilla essence.
Step 3
Mix everything with a spoon until the ingredients are combined and the dough is beginning to come together.
Step 4
Then start kneading with your hands. Turn the dough out onto the table and knead until it becomes smooth, soft and not at all sticky. Cut into two pieces and shape them into balls. Allow 15 minutes to rest, covered with a towel.
Step 5
In the meantime, grind 200 g of walnuts and combine with 6 tablespoons of sugar. I combined 100 g of walnuts only with sugar and the other 100 g, with sugar and one tablespoon of cinnamon.
Both options are good, it's up to your taste.
Step 6
With a rolling pin, spread out each dough ball into a rectangular sheet, as thinly as possible. You can dust the table with a little flour.
Step 7
Sprinkle half of the amount of walnuts and sugar mixture on each sheet. Spread evenly.
Step 8
Roll up tightly. You can even press lightly while rolling, for the nut to stick to the dough.
Step 9
Cut into slices about 1 cm thick.
Step 10
Arrange the rolls in the baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
Step 11
Press each roll with your fingers to flatten a bit.
Step 12
Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven to 200 degrees C for 30 minutes or until they are lightly browned.
Let them cool a little before serving.
Enjoy!
