I was surprised to learn some time ago that in Sweden, kebab pizza is one of the most popular types. Very trendy amongst tourists and loved by the locals, it was invented by the immigrants who came to the country in the 80s. It's a great fusion of Italian and Turkish cuisine.
This kebab pizza has rightfully gained its popularity. It's dangerously tasty, as my husband said. The garlic sauce makes it special. You can prepare the meat kebab using any recipe. I used chicken kebab cooked beforehand. And I even froze some after that, to have it on hand when I make this pizza.
Prepare the chicken kebab ahead of time. I used my simple chicken kebab recipe, I saved and froze some for when I make pizza kebab.
Cut into thin slices when it's cooled.
Make the crust for the pizza, using your favorite recipe. Or you can choose one of mine:
and so on.
In a bowl, combine 3 spoons of yogurt with 3 spoons of mayonnaise, 2 cloves of garlic, crushed, a bit of chopped pepper (hot or not) and salt to taste. Mix.
If the sauce is too thick, add 2-3 tablespoons of water to make it thinner, enough to be easier to spread on the pizza.
Preheat the oven and, in the meantime, prepare the kebab.
Roll out the pizza dough with your hands or a rolling pin.
Put 2 spoons of tomato sauce on it and spread evenly.
Add mozzarella, grated or torn.
Arrange slices of kebab over the cheese.
Finally, season with hot pepper or slices of sweet pepper.
Optionally, you can add any other topping you like - onion, corn, mushrooms etc. I go for this simple and basic version.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven at 200 degrees C for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are evenly brown.
Before serving, spread the pizza with the yogurt sauce, then taste. It's extremely good, tender and aromatic.
Enjoy!
