It is very tasty, colorful, refreshing, high in antioxidants and with wonderful anti-inflammatory effects - it's really worth a try!
I use turmeric or curcumin quite a lot in meals and side dishes, but with this delicious milk recipe, you can consume it in a form which is even tastier, faster and simpler.
I chose to make the vegetable milk myself and this time I prepared cashew nut milk. You can make it from almonds or sunflower seeds, hemp, etc.
So, take about 100g of cashew and pour over 500ml of cold water. Let soak for at least 2 hours (for almonds the hydration time is longer).
You need a good blender to make cashew milk.
Now let's put it to work and quickly make the milk with it:
- drain the water where the cashew nuts soaked, place the nuts in the blender and add another 500ml of cold water on top.
A little note - you can sweeten the milk with some hydrated dates (mix them together with the nuts in the blender) or with cane/coconut sugar, agave syrup etc.
Blend well and notice it's getting so creamy and fine. A hand blender does a great job chopping the nuts and for some time now, I've been using it specifically to prepare vegetable milk.
Pass the milk through a thin kitchen towel (or special gauze for vegetable milk), as small nut particles remain in the milk and may get into a tangle in the final texture. Then pour into a small saucepan and heat a little on the stove, do not boil!
I usually make a delicious walnut pate from the milk remainings. Of course, in this case do not sweeten the milk with dates :)
Now we can quickly prepare golden milk:
- return the heated milk to the blender;
- add turmeric, honey and vanilla essence;
- add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
A small tip - if you don't have coconut oil at hand, you can use plain butter.
Now blend all the ingredients well and just notice the wonderful color!
Unfortunately, my camera failed to catch the real color, so you'll have to believe me :)
Quickly pour it into cups and enjoy, it's wonderful!
As I said above - in addition to being delicious, it's also a good energizer, anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants.
Enjoy!
