Looking for a delicious and satisfying vegan recipe? These lentil patties are the perfect choice. Unlike traditional methods, this recipe uses hydrated lentils instead of boiled ones, resulting in patties that hold their shape with a denser, more enjoyable texture.
Whether served with a fresh salad or tucked into a sandwich, these patties are versatile and flavorful.
Place the lentils in a bowl and add about 1 liter of water. Allow them to hydrate for 8–10 hours, ideally overnight.
The lentils will triple in volume, so ensure there is sufficient water in the bowl.
Drain the water and pass the hydrated lentils and onion through a meat grinder.
Combine the ground mixture with breadcrumbs, crushed garlic, and salt.
Mix well and let the mixture rest for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
Heat a frying pan with a little olive oil.
Shape the mixture into patties and brown them over medium heat.
Flip the patties to cook them evenly on both sides.
Repeat the process until all patties are cooked.
Serve warm with your favorite garnish or salad.
Flatten the patties slightly if you plan to use them in sandwiches.
Enjoy your meal!
